Do As Ken Deed Did
First appearance of Ken Deed &
Ken Dud.
Similar to the long – running feature
“Goofus and Galliant” from Highlights –
the Magazine for Children. That recurring feature included the two title
characters, one an example of normal (rude, thoughtless, unhygienic) child
behavior, contrasted with the other character’s anal retentive, preposterously goody - goody behavior. Wildly popular, I assume, with that rare type of child
who enjoys having another child set up to him or her as an example.
The second example implies a
connection between Walt Brisbane and the chocolate company, since it is called
‘Mrs. Brisbane’s Chocolates”.
“Bandstand” is short for teen dance
program “Dick Clarke’s American Bandstand”.
Ultra-conservative types have a
hemorrhage when “under God” is censored from “The Pledge of Allegiance” to
appease atheists and “religion haters”.
